St. Joe’s defeated Shoreland Lutheran 3-0 in a rivalry Metro Classic Conference match played at Shoreland Lutheran.  The Lancers took care of all the scoring in the first half.   In the 10th minute, senior Matt S played a through ball to senior forward Andrew A who slotted it past the goalie for a 1-0 Lancer lead.  In the 31st minute, St. Joe’s sophomore Keegan B recovered a blocked Andrew direct kick, and put back the rebound to give the Lancers a 2-0 lead.  Freshman Peter V scored minutes later off an Andrew assist to give the Lancers a 3-0 half-time lead. St. Joe’s kept the clean sheet in route to a 3-0 win.

Coach Gino Alia: “It is always an amped up environment when St. Joe’s and Shoreland play, regardless of sport.  Shoreland is always well-coached, well-prepared and play the right way.  We did a great job controlling the ball and creating scoring opportunities.  Once again our defense, at all levels, was outstanding.”

St. Joe’s remains undefeated in the Metro Classic Conference with a 3-0-3, in second place behind The Prairie School.  The Lancers and Hawks face off next Wednesday 10/13 at Anderson/Troha.
