St. Joe's notched its first win of the season, defeating Martin Luther 4-2.

The Lancers did it without three of its regular starters.  Andrew A.'s led the team with two goals and two assists.  The Lancers struck first with two goals in the first seven minutes of play.  Adrian V. found the back of the net off an Andrew A. assist to open the scoring in the sixth minute.  One minute later, Matt S. drilled a corner kick out of the air to give the Lancers a 2-0 edge.

Martin Luther responded with a goal to cut the lead to 2-1.  Andrew A. then scored in the 35th minute off a Joseph B. assist to give the Lancers a 3-1 halftime lead.  Martin Luther cut the deficit to 3-2 early in the second half, before Andrew A. scored his second goal unassisted in the 66th minute to give the Lancers the 4-2 edge.

"This was a typical, very physical, back-and-forth Metro Classic soccer match.  We were able to create and finish our opportunities, and keep our composure every time Martin Luther battled back.  Our goalkeeper, Robert J., displayed great leadership with a reconfigured defensive line due to injury.  Our young guys stepped up, with four freshman (Alec S., Keegan B., James Z., and Joseph B.) giving us substantial, quality minutes". - Coach Gino Alia
