A big second half powered the Hawks to a Doctors of PT Classic victory over the Lancers on Friday at Carthage's Tarble Arena.
Indian Trail outscored St. Joseph 36-20 in the final 20 minutes to erase an eight-point halftime deficit.
"It was a tough loss tonight," St. Joseph coach Jason Coker said. "We started the first half with energy and execution. In the second half, we got away from what was working for us."
"I've got to give credit to (Indian Trail) coach (Rob) Van Dyke and his ladies. They did a great job in not giving up as they started off slow but they got better as the game progressed."
Katie Matrise's offensive firepower helped the Lancers build a 34-26 lead in the first half. The junior guard tallied 21 of her game-high 32 points in the first 20 minutes, hitting six shots from the field and 7-of-9 free throws.
