Alumni Spotlight: Kate Del Fava

St. Joseph Catholic Academy alumna Kate Del Fava continues to accumulate honors at Illinois State University as a member of the women's soccer program. During her junior campaign, Del Fava was a vital component to the Redbirds success, as she shared a team-high five goals and started every match. Del Fava's success on the field earned her All-Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) First Team honors for two consecutive years.

 

In addition to her success on field, Del Fava's achievements in the classroom netted her recognition from the MVC and College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Del Fava earned two MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team honors , the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award, and was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America Division 1 Second Team and All-District First Team. She is double majoring in Pre-Veterinarian Medicine and Animal Science and possesses a 4.00 cumulative grade point average.

 

Not only has Del Fava displayed excellence on the field and in the classroom, but also has an impressive history of volunteering at varies organizations. Del Fava has volunteered for a plethora of respected institutions, including the Boys and Girls Club, Special Olympics, Eastland Companion Hospital and the Regner Veterinary Clinic. Additionally, she is a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative and has donated her time to various elementary schools. Her commitment to volunteering earned her the State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award.

 

Kate Del Fava is a great example of an exemplary student-athlete. Her commitment to academics, athletics, and the community is inspiring and deserving of all the recognition she has received. Del Fava is a dedicated and admirable ambassador for Illinois State University and student-athletes everywhere.
