St. Joe’s moved one step closer to an outright Metro Classic Conference title with a 4-0 win over Racine Lutheran in a match played Wednesday at Pritchard Park.  The Lancers improved to 7-0 in the MCC with one conference match remaining (Shoreland, Wednesday 5/25).  Junior Elise H had 2 goals for the Lancers, scoring in the 6th and 16th minutes, both goals assisted by senior Martina H. Martina added 2 goals of her own, a penalty kick converted in the 20th minute (which gave the Lancers a 3-0 halftime lead) and a one-time header assisted by sophomore Ava R.  Senior Camryn K, junior Kaitlyn V, junior Ally P and sophomore Daniella B turned in solid defensive performances for the 11-1 overall Lancers, who played with a smaller roster due to injuries.

Coach Gino Alia: “This was probably our most complete game as a team. We did a great job controlling the middle, attacking with our outside backs, making connections up the field and being aggressive on top. We were unlucky with our finishing [the Lancers had 19 shots on goal], but the way we created scoring chances and shared the ball was impressive.”
