St. Joe’s and The Prairie School played to a 1-1 draw in a match moved to Bradford Stadium Wednesday night.  Both teams came into the match with no losses in the Metro Classic Conference, and that remained the case after 80 minutes of play.  The Prairie School was ranked #2 in Division 4 Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association rankings (week of 10/12/21).  Prairie finished 6-0-1 in conference (13 points; 1st place); St. Joe’s finished 3-0-4 in conference (10 points; second place).

The Lancers struck first when senior Andrew A blasted a shot from just outside the box to give St. Joe’s a 1-0 lead just 12 minutes into the match.  The match stayed 1-0 at half.

Five minutes into the second half, Prairie found the equalizer on their only shot on goal which followed a misplayed ball.  St. Joe’s had a golden opportunity in the last minute when senior Matt S’s header of a Phil R (Sr) corner kick just missed the open goal target.

Coach Gino Alia: “We played well in the first half, and had at a few good chances early to break the game open.  Prairie was down a few players, so they were definitely more defensive minded initially.  They made good adjustments at half, but we still had some great opportunities. The nice thing going forward is there are no ties in the playoffs.”

In addition to the players above, other leading players for the Lancers: Peter V (Fr), Joey B (So) and Ian I (Jr).
