Volleyball: Two SJCA Student-Athletes Receive National Recognition

The Under Armour All-America Watch List is for the top Seniors who have received some recognition for their outstanding volleyball play. These athletes must have earned some form of recognition such as, but not limited to: All-District, All-Region, All-State, PrepVolleyball Ranking List, USAV HP Volleyball Team, etc. A second formal nomination period for the Under Armour All-America Award will open on October 16th. This November, the AVCA will announce 72 athletes as the 2020 Under Armour All-Americans, as well as announcing an AVCA High School All-Region Team. The 24 First Team selections will be notified and invited to participate in the Under Armour High School All-America High School Volleyball Match. The 2020 Under Armour All-America High School Match will be held on January 1, 2021 in Orlando, Florida. The AVCA will provide First Team selections with round-trip transportation to and from the site of the match.

Uncommitted Athletes on the AVCA Phenom List are invited by the AVCA to participate in the the Phenom College Preparatory Program. For 2020, the Phenom Program will be held in conjunction with the NCAA DI National Championship and the AVCA Annual Convention in Omaha, Nebraska from December 17th - 19th. Over the past 8 years, 80% of athletes who participate in the Phenom Program play volleyball in college!

It is an invitation-only event for uncommitted athletes on the AVCA Phenom Watch List and unsigned Seniors on Under Armour All-America Watch List.  Participants and their parents will attend educational sessions, NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship matches, interact with AVCA Collegiate All-Americans, undergo Volleyball Performance Index testing, and participate in the AVCA Talent Showcase. The Talent Showcase during the Phenom Program, is the ONLY showcase that has more than 290+ coaches in attendance.

Having an athlete on the AVCA Phenom List does not automatically secure her spot in the Phenom College Preparatory Program. Invitations to the athletes on the AVCA Phenom List will be emailed in October. At that time, athletes will need to register via the registration link provided in the email invitation. Registration will be on a first come, first served basis only to those on the AVCA Phenom List and will close in November or when maximum capacity for the event has been reached. The requirements for having an athlete on the AVCA Phenom List are:

The student-athlete must be an underclassmen who has been recognized in some form for her outstanding volleyball abilities AND the student-athlete's high school head coach, club coach, or club director must be an active AVCA member.
